Flash Book Review (№7): Coraline by Neil Gaiman
This is our first book review for our new series The Greatest Horror Books of All Time. We’ll be publishing at least one book review every day leading up to Halloween.
Coraline is a Neil Gaiman classic, first published in 2002. The story follows a young girl who discovers a mysterious door in her new home, which leads her into a dark and dangerous alternate world. This other world is populated by eerie, nightmare creatures who want to keep Coraline for themselves.
Gaiman weaves a masterful tale of suspense and horror, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. His use of descriptive language brings the alternate world to life, making it feel all too real for readers. Coraline is a brave and resourceful heroine, who stands up to the creatures despite her fear.
This is a truly gripping story that will stay with readers long after they finish the last page. It is a perfect example of Gaiman’s talent for crafting dark and suspenseful tales.
